While driving traffic to your web site is on the “must do” list of any internet marketer or ecommerce site, there’s no one method that you must use. There are dozens of options, so why would someone choose article marketing?
After all, I haven’t found anybody yet who really wants to do article marketing. What they do want is free, pre-qualified, targeted traffic. And marketing with articles is hands-down the best way I know of to get that.
There are actually three very strong reasons why writing articles to generate traffic should be one of the techniques you use in your online business.
1. It’s Free — and Proven. Yes, there are other methods of traffic generation that are free, but some rely on gimmicks and shady tactics and if you want your business to prosper you’ll stay far away from those. But writing simple little articles about topics people want to read about is a decades old method of generating interest — and traffic — with just the words you write.
2. Article Marketing Builds Credibility. Study after study has shown people are more apt to buy from someone they know and trust. Writing articles on a given topic gives you tremendous credibility — on the strength of those articles people will start to look at you as an expert. And if you can get several articles in front of a prospect you’re going to build a relationship of sorts — the odds of them buying from you go up with every article they see with your name on it.
3. You Can’t Get More Targeted Traffic. I strongly believe the traffic you generate with articles is the most targeted you can get. If a person reads your article and clicks the link in the resource box you KNOW they’re interested in what you have. Pre-qualified traffic typically converts at a much higher rate than any other type.

4. Creating Content Is Always Good. When you write an article you’re not just writing an article, you’re also writing a blog post. And the script for a podcast and video. And part of a special report and ebook. Leveraging your work as much as possible is the mark of a good marketer. You can write articles to generate traffic and then compile many articles together to create a product you can turn around and sell to the targeted traffic coming to your web site.
